BIO announced that Patrick Plues has been hired to serve as Senior Director of State Government Relations. Plues will lead BIO’s engagement in and support of state-level health legislative and regulatory issues while promoting responsible development of bioscience industry and understanding of policy issues critical to members. Plues previously led Cephalon's federal government affairs efforts and prior to that position, directed state and federal advocacy initiatives for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.

WASHINGTON--The Biotechnology Industry Organization (BIO) announced today that Patrick Plues has been hired to serve as Senior Director of State Government Relations.
Plues will lead BIO’s engagement in and support of state-level health legislative and regulatory issues while promoting the responsible development of the bioscience industry and better understanding of policy issues critical to our members.
Plues brings with him over 20 years of experience in state and federal government affairs, the majority of that time advocating on behalf of the biopharmaceutical industry. Plues previously led Cephalon's federal government affairs efforts. Prior to that position, Plues directed state and federal advocacy initiatives for Wyeth Pharmaceuticals.
"I have known, respected and worked with Patrick for over 10 years. He is a skilled government affairs professional with a deep understanding of the biotechnology industry. His healthcare expertise along with his knowledge of state and federal legislative issues position him well to lead BIO's health related state government affairs activities," said Fritz Bittenbender, Executive Vice President, Public Affairs.
