Parker Hannifin Introduces Three New Materials Developed Specifically for the Energy, Oil, and Gas Industries

HOUSTON, APRIL 30, 2007 - In today's technological world, the demands on natural resources continue to rise. This heightened demand has created a need for exploration and extended drilling in the Energy, Oil and Gas (EOG) markets. Parker, recognized worldwide for leadership in elastomer development, has created three new materials - V1289-75, KA183-85, and NB194-90 - to accommodate the evolving industry requirements.

Parker V1289-75 is designed to have the best low temperature properties of any fluorocarbon rubber compound available in the market today. Unlike other fluorocarbon materials that only provide either low temperature flexibility or excellent resistance to alcohols, V1289-75 offers both. It provides reliable dynamic sealing down to (-55°C) while retaining excellent sealing force.

V1289-75 is an improved performance alternative for GLT/GFLT fluorocarbon technology in numerous applications.

Parker KA183-85 is formulated to withstand extremely cold temperatures, as low as -50° F (-45° C) in static applications. Most materials are slow to rebound from harsh temperatures, limiting their sealing capability. KA183-85 excels in these temperatures, remaining flexible and allowing the sealing properties to remain robust. KA183-85 also has excellent tensile, modulus, and elongation properties. And as an HNBR, KA183-85 continues to be compatible with hydrogen sulfide, corrosion inhibitors, steam, methanol, and oil. KA183-85 has passed extensive testing in high pressure CO2 and decompression per NACE Standard TM0297-97 with outstanding results.

Parker NB194-90 has exceptional extrusion resistance, low compression set and high temperature resistance as compared with other nitrile elastomers. In high pressure oilfield applications, extrusion resistance is of the utmost importance. When space or assembly limitations prohibit the use of back-up rings, extrusion resistant o-rings can provide a good alternative sealing solution.

Parker O-Ring Division products are at the leading edge of elastomer technology and this new material is no exception. Parker O-Ring Division offers a broad spectrum of materials for oilfield sealing applications ranging from the chemically resistant, high temperature Parofluor and Parofluor ULTRA, to a variety of premium elastomeric sealing materials.

Whether it is an "off-the-shelf" industrial standard or a material in a custom size developed to customer specifications, our commitment to service is designed to minimize downtime and maximize quality. In addition to O-Rings, Parker O-Ring Division offers ParBak anti-extrusion rings, installation lubricants and O-Ring assembly and removal tools. Our manufacturing plants are ISO 9001, TS 16949 and AS 9100 registered.

With annual sales exceeding $9 billion, Parker Hannifin is the world's leading diversified manufacturer of motion and control technologies and systems, providing precision-engineered solutions for a wide variety of commercial, mobile, industrial and aerospace markets.
