Papers invited for ASTM pervious concrete symposium.

July 15, 2010 - Scheduled for December 4, 2011, ASTM International Symposium on Pervious Concrete will discuss importance of having testing standards for segment of industry that has been placing pervious concrete for more than 30 years in the United States. Event will provide forum for presenting data collected on pervious projects relating to fresh concrete properties, hardened properties, durability, permeability, and mix design alternatives.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa., -Papers are invited for the ASTM International Symposium on Pervious Concrete to be held at the Tampa Marriott Waterside in Tampa, Fla., on Dec. 4, 2011. Sponsored by ASTM Committee C09 on Concrete and Concrete Aggregates, the meetings will be held in conjunction with the committee's Dec. 4-7 standards development meetings.

The symposium is being held to discuss the importance of having testing standards for a segment of the industry that has been placing pervious concrete for more than 30 years in the United States. It will provide a forum for presenting data collected on pervious projects relating to fresh concrete properties, hardened properties, durability, permeability and mix design alternatives. Topics that will be presented contain, but are not limited to:
- surface durability;
- use and intention of ASTM C1701, Standard Test Method for Infiltration of In Place Pervious Concrete, for field permeability;
- Density and voids of freshly delivered material;
- Use of admixtures to improve pervious attributes; and
- Correlations of field cores to ASTM C1688, Standard Test Method for Density and Void Content of Freshly Mixed Pervious Concrete.

Interested presenters/authors must submit a 250-300 word abstract by Jan. 4, 2011, online at www.astm.org/C09symp1211.htm. You will be notified by March 4, 2011, of your paper's acceptability for presentation. Symposium presenters are required to submit their papers to the Journal of ASTM International (JAI). JAI is an online, peer-reviewed journal for the international scientific and engineering community (www.astm.org/JAI). Manuscripts to be peer reviewed for JAI are due online no later than Nov. 20, 2011, at the ASTM Editorial Office.
