Pall Corporation Founder Inducted Into National Inventors Hall Of Fame

East Hills, NY (February 14, 2008) - The profound contributions of Dr. David B. Pall, founder of Pall Corporation (NYSE: PLL), to the science of fluid filtration, separation and purification was underscored today when the National Inventors Hall of Fame inducted him into the ranks of the world's most important technology innovators. The posthumous induction recognized Dr. Pall, who passed away in 2004 at the age of 90, for his global vision and scientific tenacity in developing some of the most influential and impactful fluid management solutions in the fields of life sciences and industry (http://pall.com/corporate_44194.asp).

Based in Akron, Ohio, the National Inventors Hall of Fame was established by the U.S. Patent & Trademark Office and the National Council of Intellectual Property Law Associations to honor the women and men responsible for the great technological advances that make human, social and economic progress possible. Dr. Pall is among the 389 inductees to be so honored since the organization's founding in 1973, including 18 in the class of 2008.

Dr. Pall was selected for the Hall of Fame distinction in recognition of his leukocyte reduction filter (U.S. Patent No. 4,925,572), which he developed in response to the aplastic anemia that would eventually take his wife's life. The leukoreduction filter prevents rejection of transfused blood and eliminates the transmission of blood borne disease via transfusion, by removing white blood cells from donor supplies. Introduced in the early 1990's, Pall's leukoreduction filter has become the standard of care for transfusion recipients by improving patient outcomes and reducing health care costs. It is a bellwether of the company's leadership in medical and biopharmaceutical filtration technologies.

Through his relentless curiosity and drive to find solutions for some of medicine and industry's most entrenched purification challenges, Dr. Pall set the tone for scientific endeavor that remains Pall Corporation's acknowledged hallmark. A 1990 recipient of the National Medal of Technology, the highest technology honor in the United States, he was the named inventor on 181 U.S. patents, establishing a standard for innovation that has earned Pall Corporation over 1000 patents to date.

The pursuit of technological discovery - the heart of Pall's corporate mission - has enabled the company to amass an unmatched library of proprietary core materials. Drawing on this storehouse, Pall combines its deep technological capability, applications experience and market knowledge to provide Total Fluid Management(SM) solutions to companies across the life sciences and industrial spectrum. The company's ability to design integrated systems that link a customer's incoming raw materials, process fluids and waste streams, and then manufacture, install and service them, is unique in Pall's industry. By connecting different parts of the process, Pall's engineered systems protect customer assets and make them more efficient, often in a smaller footprint, and with lower energy consumption and environmental impact.

Pall Corp. was founded in 1946 to commercialize Dr. Pall's first invention, a novel metallic filtration material comprising a sintered metal powder as the medium for a porous stainless steel filter (PSS®). The PSS metal filters are still used in the aerospace industry to this day. In the early 1950's Dr. Pall developed an original woven metal mesh (Rigimesh®) that prevented the hydraulic systems of commercial jets from jamming - thus helping to usher in the age of frequent flying and establishing Pall Corporation as the aerospace industry's leading filtration supplier.

The success of the PSS® metal filter gave Pall the first deposit into its bank of core materials, as well as its first significant foothold in the industrial sector. Over the ensuing decades, Pall's influence as the leader in Total Fluid Management(SM) solutions spread exponentially, infiltrating the aerospace and transportation, energy, water, microelectronics, food and beverage, and environmental sciences industries.

Pall's entry into biopharmaceuticals and medicine with fine and ultrafine disposable filters in the 1970's secured a similar role for the future of the company's contamination management and purification technologies in this burgeoning market. Today, Pall's engineered solutions are mission critical in drug discovery, mass production and biologics. Among the most significant of these applications are biotech drugs, cell therapies, infection control, and blood safety.

Not content to limit its technology leadership to commercial deployment, however, Pall marshals its 360° expertise in a dedicated Scientific and Laboratory Services Group (SLS), which provides contamination control advice, system evaluation, managed testing validation and consultation with government agencies, customers and Pall's own R&D enterprises. In many respects, SLS represents the best of Pall, marrying its determined commitment to technology innovation with its essential mission to achieve viable fluid management solutions that improve the human condition and the global economy.

Reflecting on Dr. Pall's legacy, Pall Corporation Chairman and CEO Eric Krasnoff said, "Armed only with an idea, Dr. Pall founded Pall Corporation in a Queens, NY, garage over 60 sixty years ago, never envisioning the myriad ways his passion for technology innovation would impact the world. Today's honor from the National Inventors Hall of Fame embodies that passion, which is the foundation of all that Pall Corporation has achieved to date and will achieve in the future."
