SINGAPORE, June 19 - Direct Technologies (iDirect), a global provider of satellite-based broadband communications solutions and the US satellite communications arm of Singapore Technologies Electronics Limited, today announced a new contract with Pak Datacom Ltd., a subsidiary of Telecom Foundation and the leading satellite network operator in Pakistan and Bangladesh. Pak Datacom has acquired an iDirect universal 5IF iNFINITI satellite hub and 25 iDirect Series 3100 remote routers to expand its broadband communications services.
With iDirect's universal platform, Pak Datacom plans to grow its GSM backhaul service for cellular operators, expand remote connectivity to commercial and government organizations and help banking institutions and other extended enterprises replace dedicated SCPC links with an integrated satellite network. Pak Datacom currently manages more than 100 domestic and international high-speed data circuits operating via satellite.
iDirect's universal satellite platform enables Pak Datacom to deliver a complete range of network applications across any communications protocol, including voice, video and data communications. With the iDirect platform, Pak Datacom can also maximize bandwidth allocation. iDirect hubs can configure networks starting at 64 Kbps and scale up to 18 Mbps in 1 Kbps increments with an approximate 98 percent payload efficiency based on instantaneous conditions.
"As our satellite business grows, Pak Datacom needed a universal platform to support our diverse range of customers and centralize network management. With iDirect, we can provide the highest quality connectivity regardless of bandwidth requirement, location, business application, satellite band or topology. Our goal is to provide every customer with the specific communications solutions they require, based on the best technology available while paying vigilant attention to our customers' bottom line." - Ali BAJWA, Senior General Manager, Pak Datacom.
"Pak Datacom is wisely responding to the accelerating adoption of satellite communications in Pakistan. As connectivity needs grow and diversify, Pak Datacom is investing in a universal platform that can efficiently handle increased traffic and support virtually any application from remote connectivity to disaster recovery." - Andrew BOND-WEBSTER, Regional Vice President and Managing Director, Asia, iDirect.
