ASTM member since 1988, Nolan has 33+ years of experience in testing and analysis of packaging and products for shock and vibration hazards in distribution system. He has served as chairman of Committee D10, currently works on several D10 subcommittees, and is involved in several other committees and organizations.

W. CONSHOHOCKEN, Pa.-ASTM International Committee D10 on Packaging has presented the Award of Merit to Patrick J. Nolan, president of DDL Inc. in Eden Prairie, Minn. The Award of Merit and its accompanying title of fellow is ASTM's highest organizational recognition for individual contributions to standards activities.

A past chairman of Committee D10, Nolan works on several D10 subcommittees and has received two Awards of Appreciation from the committee. He also served a term on the ASTM Committee on Standards and is currently a member of Committee F02 on Flexible Barrier Packaging, where he is a member at large on the executive subcommittee. He has been a member of ASTM International since 1988.

Nolan has more than 33 years of experience in the testing and analysis of packaging and products for shock and vibration hazards in the distribution system. He co-founded DDL Inc. in 1990 and assumed the role of president in 2007. Prior to that, he was an applications engineer at MTS Systems in Eden Prairie, Minn., and senior packaging engineer at Ecolab in Eagan, Minn.

In addition to ASTM International, Nolan is a member of the Association for the Advancement of Medical Instrumentation, the Institute of Packaging Professionals, and the University of Wisconsin-Stout Packaging Advisory Board. He holds a bachelor's degree in forestry from Michigan State University in East Lansing, Mich.
