Build Stronger Distributor/Manufacturer Relationships at the PTDA Executive Development Conference

Chicago, Ill. - October 2, 2008 - The Power Transmission Distributors Association (PTDA) will hold its annual Executive Development Conference, March 12-13, 2009 at the Phoenix Marriott Mesa in Mesa, Ariz. Designed to prepare the next generation of leaders in the power transmission/motion control (PT/MC) industry for success, the conference will provide attendees the opportunity to explore the dynamics of distributor/manufacturer relationships; areas of mutual benefit and potential conflict; the importance of personal, professional relationships in building and maintaining distributor/manufacturer relationships; and specific actions executives of both distributors and manufacturers can take to build, maintain and manage these relationships for maximum effectiveness.

Targeted at current mid-level district or regional managers, sales managers, product or vendor relations specialists and other up-and-comers, PTDA's 2009 Executive Development Conference offers attendees the chance to develop tools they will need as their authority and responsibilities increase. Held in conjunction with PTDA's annual winter Board of Directors, Manufacturer Council and committee meetings, nearly 100 association members-current leaders in the PT/MC industry-will join conference attendees for an unmatched opportunity to expand contacts.

"The professional development of our company's sales and management personnel is a priority for our company. We know our future leaders need strategies and tools that will help them succeed as they take on more responsibilities and move ahead in management," says Mike Ketchel, president, Erie Bearings Co. "The Executive Development Conference prepares them with leadership training and gives them the opportunity to build connections with peers and partners."

A past attendee, Gary McGraw, regional sales manager, Jamaica Miniature Bearings, notes, "PTDA's Executive Development Conference gave me tools I could take back to my company and apply to what I'm doing today. I was also able to pass on to other members of the company some of the information we covered during the session. The interactive and participatory nature of the sessions reinforced the concepts being presented and provided me with a chance to practice what was being discussed in a friendly atmosphere."

Developed by PTDA Employee Development Committee, highlights of the program include:

o An interactive and energetic program facilitated by Gary Moore, an experienced distribution executive and a frequent speaker, author and trainer on distribution-related topics.

o Informal networking at Wednesday and Thursday evening receptions and dinners.

o Conference materials providing take-home value that can be immediately applied at the office.
