PTDA Foundation Raises Nearly $200,000 in 2013 to Build Awareness of Industrial Distribution Careers

Chicago— Industry support for the PTDA Foundation’s signature project, the Industrial Careers Pathway® (ICP), amounted to nearly $200,000 in 2013. The Foundation concluded its 2013 fund drive with a renewed and energetic focus on demonstrating success at reaching the future industrial distribution workforce.

According to Brian Short, 2013 PTDA Foundation Fund Drive Chair (NSK Americas, Ann Arbor, Mich.), “We have again seen extraordinary support from the power transmission industry for the PTDA Foundation’s work and its initiative, Industrial Careers Pathway. PTDA members recognize the importance of building tomorrow’s workforce. They are willing to invest because they know ICP resources will help them spread the word about the incredibly rewarding careers in industrial distribution. We are also pleased that our Alliance Partners—the American Supply Association (ASA), the Industrial Supply Association (ISA) Educational Foundation and NAHAD - The Association for Hose and Accessories Distribution—continued their strong financial support for the ICP initiative.”

The 2014 fund drive kicked off in October at PTDA’s 2013 Industry Summit.  The Vanguard campaign, recognizing those who pledge to the 2014 Fund Drive before year-end 2013, is off to a record start.  Even before the end of the Industry Summit, the Vanguard campaign had received pledges in excess of $55,000, with the total currently at $67,700 and growing.  Vanguard contributors enjoy a few special perks due to their early contribution, including immediate inclusion on the ICP website at www.industrialcareerspathway.org/Support.

“The early contributors help set the tone for the fund drive, allowing ICP to make aggressive plans in 2014 for reaching our target audience of 18-34 year olds with a knack for applied technology,” said Short, who has held the role of Fund Drive chair since 2012.

Fund Drive Highlights:

• Contributors included 116 companies from within the power transmission/motion control industry and one company from the hose and accessories industry.

• Of those companies, 59 have given three consecutive years.

• Eighteen contributors increased their contributions in 2012 over 2013.

• There were 19 new contributors in 2013.
