Mississauga, ON, Tuesday, November 13, 2007 - PSI Engineering, an industry leader in material handling and document automation solutions announced today that is has provided Market America with a Print Feeder Document Fold (DF) solution that is expected to provide Market America a total return on their investment within 13 months.
A multiple Product Distribution brokerage and Internet Fulfillment company, Market America was experiencing growing pains common in the ever increasing e-commerce industry that involved packing station bottlenecks, rising consumable cost, limited floor space and staff efficiency issues. To keep up with the increasing daily order output requirements, Market America had to place 4 to 5 operators on the line. Due to space limitations, Market America soon realized they could not keep adding more people on the lines.
It was determined that Market America required as part of their overall solution, PSI's Print Feeder Document Fold system to increase their capacity and eliminate the bottlenecks they were experiencing on the line. The Print Feeder DF system takes their invoice/packing list and folds it before automatically inserting it into a carton. To maintain high throughput the system prints multiple orders in advance into a mechanical buffer, separates the orders then folds and feeds the personalized shipping documents. Market America presented a unique problem being they had limited space between the conveyor lines. This problem was quickly solved by building the Print Feeder system parallel to their conveyor line.
With the implementation of the Print Feeder DF solution, Market America is estimating that within a year they will be saving considerably on consumables and labor cost. Besides the cost savings, Market America has increased their order throughput by 15% without the addition of new labor.
