A maker of industrial doors and fall-prevention systems in Grand Forks has plans to expand its facility.
PS Doors Founder Jim Satrom said the company will add 24,000 to 48,000 square feet to the 56,000-square-foot facility at 1150 S. 48th St.
To help in the expansion, the company has applied for a property-tax exemption from the city.
At 48,000 square feet, the market value of addition would be $2.9 million, according to the company’s application for the exemptions. It expects to start construction in June and start operations in the new space in January.
PS Doors also plans to more than double its workforce over the next few years because of the expansion, according to the application. It currently has 60 full-time employees.
The company is asking for a five-year property-tax exemption that starts at 100-percent exemption in the first year and decreasing to 20 percent by the fifth year with no exemptions afterward.
The Grand Forks City Council’s Finance and Development Committee Mondayset a June 2 hearing date for the request.
PS Doors was established in 1974, according to its website. It designs and manufactures custom industrial doors, safety products such as gates, and flood-protection doors and barriers.
“They’re all seeing pretty good growth,” Satrom said.
