December 6, 2007 Trapeze Networks, the award-winning global provider of Smart Mobile wireless solutions, has announced that PRO TECHnology has successfully deployed Trapeze network solutions at the UNESCO Regional Centre for Educational Planning, located within the Sharjah University campus.

Among the Trapeze solutions implemented by PRO TECHnology are the Mobility Point (access points) MP-372 and MP-620, which provide wireless LAN access within and outside the UNESCO building. The Mobility Exchange Switch MX-200 and the Avaya IP telephony were also implemented during the 30-day installation project.

"Trapeze solutions offer the best value and can be customised to suit any environment or requirement. The UNESCO project presented its own challenges which have been excellently addressed by our Smart Mobile Wireless LAN solution. The success of this installation displays our strategy of developing Wireless network solutions that cater to the needs of different clients, such as hospitality, government and educational institutions," said Feras Zeidan, Regional Manager, Trapeze Networks.

The key features of the Trapeze network solutions installed at the UNESCO centre include Wireless IP telephony solutions (VOIP) using the Wi-Fi phone Nokia E61i, data and internet connection for more than 100 guests and 50 employees within and outside the building, and centralised wireless LAN management.

"UNESCO has chosen Trapeze because of its high-quality products and services and extensive technical know-how, giving us the confidence to entrust to them such a critical component of our organisation. The upgrades have enhanced our ability to fulfil our mission of strengthening the educational capacity of the region in terms of modern planning and management," said Taha Mostafa, Head of IT, UNESCO Regional Centre for Educational Planning.

The UNESCO Regional Centre for Educational Planning is primarily involved in generating, expanding and sharing educational planning knowledge to help countries in the Gulf region improve their educational capacity. It also aims to raise awareness about specific issues that affect the development of the education sector.

"Trapeze offers user-friendly, reliable and secure wireless solutions that perfectly match UNESCO's upgrade requirements. PRO TECHnology is delighted to have helped UNESCO seamlessly implement the network installations," said Jihad Al Bakri, Wireless Networking and Communications Manager, PRO TECHnology.
