PMA Introduces New Social Media Resources for the Metalforming Community

CLEVELAND, OH - The Precision Metalforming Association (PMA) has launched several social media initiatives that offer industry professionals more ways to connect to knowledge, news and their peers within the metalforming community.

The new PMA blog includes regular industry commentary from MetalForming Editor Brad Kuvin, PMA President William E. Gaskin, PMA Educational Foundation Executive Director Dave Sansone and PMA 2010 Chair Gretchen Zierick, as well as contributions from other metalforming-industry thought leaders.

On Twitter, several PMA tweeters offer information tidbits every day on a range of metalforming topics, from the shopfloor to Capitol Hill.

PMA's well-established and growing LinkedIn group provides its more than 800 members a platform on which to build their professional network within the metalforming industry. And, the new PMA Facebook page will act as a more casual, media-rich space where those in the metalforming community can view photos from PMA events, watch metalforming videos and connect with other fans of the PMA page.

"Fostering an environment for metalforming leaders to build relationships and exchange knowledge has always been central to PMA's mission," says PMA President William E. Gaskin. "In that sense, we view these new social media components as a natural and vital extension of what we've been providing to the industry for decades, through in-person events and via our array of print and online educational resources."

Metalforming professionals can go to pma.org/community to learn more and to get involved with their industry on the social web.

PMA is the full-service trade association representing the $113-billion metalforming industry of North America-the industry that creates precision metal products using stamping, fabricating, spinning, slide forming and roll forming technologies, and other value-added processes. Its nearly 1,000 member companies also include suppliers of equipment, materials and services to the industry. PMA leads innovative member companies toward superior competitiveness and profitability through advocacy, networking, statistics, the PMA Educational Foundation, FABTECH and METALFORM tradeshows, and MetalForming magazine.
