PAPR and Hoods Far Exceed OSHA Standards for Medical Protection

Immediate Response Technologies, Inc. a leader in respiratory protection for both the military and civilian communities achieved dramatic success with the testing of their FlexAir PAPR and Hoods. Edgewood Chemical Biological Center (ECBC), conducted Simulated Workplace Protection Factor (SWPF) testing of IRT's FlexAir™ Powered Air Purifying Respirator (PAPR) with the loose-fitting Butyl and Tychem SL Hoods. The overall OSHA Assigned Protection Factor (APF) for both the Butyl Hood Model S-40083-001, and Tychem Hood Model S-40084-001, achieved OSHA APF values of 90,000 and 80,000—well exceeding the OSHA-required criteria of 1,000-- when both were combined with IRT’s versatile FlexAir™ PAPR system. Now doctors, nurses and medical personnel can have the respiratory protection they need and deserve, with a light weight, easy to use fully approved system.
IRT was incorporated January 28, 1977 when it introduced its patented Radiant Heating Panels to the commercial marketplace. In 1980, IRT responded to a request from the Department of Defense (DoD) for technical assistance in the area of military thermal targets. The DoD was interested in the application of IRT's radiant heating panel technology to the development of thermal targets in support of M60A3 tank gunnery training and certification.
