Largest Regional Airline Deploys REO Disk-Based Backup and Recovery VTL and NEO Tape Library to Reduce Backup Times and Administrative Overhead by 80 Percent
SAN DIEGO, March 15 // -- Overland Storage, Inc. (NASDAQ:OVRL) today announced it has received a "Best of Show" award for Most Innovative End-User Solution at the 2007 Data Protection Summit, the nation's only conference dedicated entirely to keeping data safe, secure and private. SkyWest Airlines, the nation's largest regional carrier, was recognized for its highly effective and innovative disk-to-disk-to-tape (D2D2T) deployment of Overland's REO and NEO disk- and tape-based appliances.
For SkyWest, continuous business growth created a rapid rise in data protection requirements, which led to a thorough investigation of different technologies before selecting Overland's best-of-class D2D2T solutions. In improving storage reliability and data recovery, SkyWest deployed a complementary REO SERIES 9000 disk-based backup and recovery VTL appliance and a NEO SERIES 2000 mid-range tape library. The airline takes advantage of REO's flexible VTL configuration in conjunction with the expandable NEO tape library to reduce backup times and administrative overhead by more than 80 percent.
