T8 Compact Modular Series, T8 Enclosure Series and Conversion Kits Make Installation Fast and Easy
Manitowoc, WI March 29, 2007 - Orion Lighting, the award-winning manufacturer of high-intensity fluorescent (HIF) systems and controls, introduces an enhanced line of energy-efficient technology solutions.
Orion revolutionized the industry in 2001 with the development of its HIF technology platform, which delivers large-scale energy efficiencies by replacing the standard high-intensity discharge (HID) lighting fixture.
Orion's patented lighting systems incorporate superior optical and thermal efficiency to deliver an average of 50 percent more light at half the energy usage, compared to HID lighting fixtures. Products include the Compact Modular T8 Series, a high-bay lighting series designed for industrial, distribution and warehousing applications; the T8 Enclosure Series, designed for freezer applications; and Conversion Kits designed to handily upgrade conventional 4-foot T12 strip fixtures.
Because lighting represents from 30 to 70 percent of the energy used in commercial and industrial facilities, the energy savings realized from replacing typical 400 watt HID lighting with Orion's HIF lighting is significant, averaging $100 per year per fixture. Along with the electricity savings, installing energy-efficient lighting has a positive environmental impact, reducing greenhouse gas emissions that contribute to global warming.
Compact Modular T8 Series The complete line of energy-efficient T8 fixtures replaces HID technology at various heights and applications. Available in 2-, 4-, 6-, and 8-lamp configurations, the lightweight, modular plug-and-play design allows for efficient field installation and maintenance. The exclusive quick-change ballast pack allows access to the ballast in just seconds without tools. The modular design means that upgrades, such as motion sensors, modular power extenders, or advanced controls can be added economically at a later date.
A patented aluminum "I" frame features durable, lightweight construction and can easily be installed by one person, reducing labor and maintenance costs. The aluminum also dissipates heat at a much higher rate than steel, lowering the temperature surrounding the ballast and increasing its expected life. In addition, Orion's power-pack technology separates ballast heat from lamp heat and creates a venturi airflow for improved efficiency and cooler operating temperatures.
The T8 Series uses a patented reflector design logic harvesting all 360 degrees of light, delivering increased, measurable foot-candles to the floor where it is needed.
T8 Enclosure Series Orion's T8 Enclosure Series operates in temperatures as low as negative 20 degrees Farenheit. The enclosed and gasketed fixture's black-coated shell improves thermal efficiency and is designed to keep moisture away with its recessed lens cover and liquid-tight cord grip. Surface mount fixtures can mount flush to the ceiling and are ideal for food industry applications. The fixtures are corrosion resistant and tough enough to withstand power washing at 3000-psi.
The T8 Enclosure Series features the same, exclusive patented reflector design and quick-change ballast pack for easy installation without hardwiring and a patented, modular power supply. Custom accessories are available including plug-and-play control options; occupancy sensors; ambient light sensors; a .09" Acrylite FF slide-in lens; universal bracket hangers and mounting hardware.
Conversion Kits Replacing outdated, conventional 4-foot T12 technology is easy with Orion's complete line of patented Conversion Kits. These come in two standard width sizes - 4.25" or 5.25" - and are available in 4 or 8 foot 1-, 2-, or 4-lamp configurations. Each Conversion Kit features a high-performance, parabolic white reflector that delivers optimal zonal cavity lighting. Orion's proprietary design integrates the reflector geometry into the new raceway cover to deliver more light with less energy. Installation is fast and efficient with an exclusive, snap-fit design. This technology application is well suited for existing fixtures that are permanently mounted to the building.
