Organizational Changes Made to Better Meet Member Needs

AMT is making organizational changes to better meet member needs. Effective immediately, all communications functions will be consolidated under Vice President - Exhibitions and Communications Peter Eelman. New member recruitment will be overseen by Patrick McGibbon, Vice President - Strategic Information and Research (SIR) and member retention initiatives will be developed and directed by Jeffery Traver, Vice President - Business Development.

"Structuring the Association to better serving our members' needs is directly aligned with this year's number one goal of increasing member engagement," said AMT President Robert K. Simpson. "On a very basic level it is our responsibility to deliver products and services that meet individual member's needs and continually assess the effectiveness of what we provide."

"Our focus for IMTS has led us on a path to create and implement first class communications," said Eelman. "Our plan is to utilize several of those resources and use them to bring forward communication tools that will work for the Association overall and foster member engagement. We will improve direct communication between AMT and all levels of staff at our member companies. Other key areas of focus include improving the web site, developing a social network strategy and identifying communication methods that meet today's members' needs."

To support the communications changes within AMT, Bonnie Gurney has been promoted to Communications Director. She was formerly the IMTS Web Site Manager. Monica Haley has been elevated to Marketing Communications Manager from Marketing Administrator. Diyana Hrzic, Web Site Manager; Pam Kachel, Communications Coordinator; and Ruth Sharpe, Newsletter Editor, will complete the communications team.

"Both Bonnie and Monica bring tremendous talent and energy to AMT," noted Eelman. "As we move forward they will each play an important role in planning our strategic direction and building the programs to support it."

"Engagement for us means being high touch with our membership and effectively delivering on their expectations," stated McGibbon. "SIR and Business Development work individually with over 65 percent of our membership on a regular basis. So, shifting member services and member retention to these two departments is a move that positions us to react quickly to changing member priorities and being proactive in offering new services."

Myrta Mason, Membership Coordinator, and Sarah Sebastian, Membership Manager, will join SIR where they will work with the team's analysts to identify potential members and study member usage trends.

Jeff Traver will assume additional duties in membership engagement. Creating a balance between domestic and international opportunities is a high priority. "This change in balance will increase member interaction which is key to addressing member retention issues and also allows us to take full advantage of the synergies and strategic tools that reside in Business Development and SIR to support our members," said Traver.
