Half-Day Seminars in Select Cities Demonstrate New Functionality

Temecula, CA - October 9, 2008 - Opto 22, developer and manufacturer of the award-winning SNAP PAC System(TM) family of programmable automation controllers, I/O, and accessories, will present a series of free technical seminars focused on its SNAP I/O(TM) offering featuring support for Rockwell Automation®/Allen-Bradley Ethernet-based control systems. The seminar tour began in Chicago on October 8 and continues across the country with stops in Detroit, MI; Atlanta, GA; Charlotte, NC; San Francisco, CA; and seven other cities.

Opto 22 recently announced a new version of its SNAP I/O that adds support for the industry-standard EtherNet/IP(TM) communications protocol, giving automation engineers new intelligent remote I/O options for ControlLogix® and CompactLogix® control systems. This newest version of SNAP I/O now integrates into these Logix platforms natively, thereby maintaining a homogeneous automation architecture where compatibility is guaranteed and no additional programming is required.

These "Intelligent I/O for Allen-Bradley" seminars are designed to give Allen-Bradley and other automation end users, original equipment manufacturers, and systems integrators information on the options they now have for maintaining, but also expanding, the capabilities of their Logix systems through the implementation of intelligent remote I/O. Seminar attendees will learn the scope and details of these capabilities and witness a live demonstration of SNAP I/O connected to and communicating with an Allen-Bradley CompactLogix programmable logic controller (PLC) to accomplish analog process control functions such as PID loop control, scaling and engineering unit conversions, and thermocouple linearization. Discrete control capabilities will also be demonstrated.

Because SNAP I/O systems can perform these and other advanced control functions independent of a central controller, engineers are free to modify or expand their systems with no additional logic programming. This effectively frees the PLC from time-consuming, time-critical, and processor-intensive tasks, improving performance and keeping scan rates from being adversely affected.

The full schedule for Opto 22's free Intelligent I/O for Allen-Bradley seminar is available at www.opto22.com/site/co_events_io4ab_seminars.aspx. For more information or to register, please contact the host company for the seminar in your area.
