More than 150 visitors from all over the world turned up at the joint open house staged by AIM, Inc., on 16-17 November. The event was hosted at the AIM, inc. factory, in Addison, IL, 20 miles west of downtown Chicago and took place in parallel with the Fabtech trade show. Four co-sponsors were also present with their equipment: RMG, ENTRON, Krueger Steel and Fanuc Robotics.
AIM, Inc and the co-sponsors rolled out their new innovations with ten machines on display, covering the majority of wire bending and manufacturing requirements. The new "Synchro" bender design was applauded by veterans in the business and characterized as the most innovative machine with the least production limitations currently available.
FANUC robotics showcased their new low inertia robots along with vision inspection and in-line tracking where a robot was picking parts from a moving conveyor. BF ENTRON had the new mid frequency DC welding controls in operation welding parts produced by a 2D AIM wire bender and RMG showcased a new discaler line feeding a wire drawing machine which in turn fed a 16mm 3-dimensional AIM CNC Bender showing a complete from rod to finished part production solution. All the wire used for the open house was provided by Krueger steel and many of the visitors recognized the high quality of the steel.
"The turnout was better than that of a trade show! We sold three new machines at the open house," says Constantine Grapsas, the company's founder and managing director. "As a project, the event worked well," he continues. "The idea was to showcase complete automated solutions and work cells along with educating about the new technologies available in a concentrated space with more than a dozen engineers constantly providing answers to the visitors. I know we achieved our goals."
