Omron Electronics de Mexico, S.A. Opens for Business to Support Omron's Industrial Automation Customers

SCHAUMBURG, IL (March, 2008) - Omron celebrated the opening of Omron Electronics de Mexico, S.A., a new regional headquarters in Apodaca, Nuevo Leon, Mexico, on January 23, 2008. Under the direction of Ricardo Lomeli, General Manager, the company will provide sales and technical support for the growing number of Omron industrial automation customers across Mexico. A key function for the new facility will be as a customer training center for Omron's programmable controllers (PLCs), motion controllers, AC drives, machine vision systems and sensors. The 279-square-meter (3,000 square foot) office includes a fully equipped vision testing lab, and is staffed with sales engineers, field application engineers and a technical services manager to support Omron's industrial automation distributors and their customers. This new office complements Omron's existing sales and service teams based in Mexico City, D.F. and offers room for expansion to support planned additional staffing and warehouse needs.

Notable guests at the office opening included Gregg Holst, President and COO of Omron Electronics LLC Americas operations, Allen Vail, CFO for Omron Electronics LLC, and Paul D. Witt, Omron Electronics LLC's Vice President for Mexico and Latin America operations. All of Omron Electronics' Mexico-based employees and management representatives from key Omron distributor partners attended the opening day presentations and joined in the celebration.

"The new office is located in the Apodaca industrial area just outside Monterrey and provides good logistical capabilities by road and by air," says Witt. "The office is 15 minutes away from the international airport and, along with a well developed modern highway system, provides easy access to manufacturers surrounding Monterrey and to those located in the Maquiladoras' border areas. The new office will increase services offered to the large Monterrey-area manufacturing hub that includes Japanese automotive manufacturers as well as manufacturers of white goods (household appliances), beer and soft drinks, and electronic goods.

"Omron Electronics de Mexico's new General Manager Ricardo Lomeli brings over 10 years of experience working with industrial automation distributors and a thorough knowledge of the Mexican market needs," says Witt. "These skills provide a solid management base for Omron's future growth and success in Mexico."
