October ANSI Caucus to Address Innovation Economics



The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) has announced that next monthly ANSI Caucus Luncheon will be held on Friday, October 3, 2008. The meeting will feature guest speaker Dr. Robert Atkinson, president of the Information Technology and Innovation Foundation (ITIF).

Dr. Atkinson's presentation will focus on innovation economics, and how policy makers can embrace the forces of technology, globalization, and entrepreneurship to drive economic growth.

Founder of ITIF, Dr. Atkinson has an extensive background in technology policy. He has conducted ground-breaking research projects on technology and innovation, making him a valued adviser to state and national policy makers and a popular speaker on innovation policy, both nationally and internationally.

In addition to his work with ITIF, Dr. Atkinson authored the State New Economy Index series and The Past and Future of America's Economy: Long Waves of Innovation That Power Cycles of Growth. He has previously served as vice president of the Progressive Policy Institute (PPI) and director of PPI's Technology & New Economy Project, as well as the first executive director of the Rhode Island Economic Policy Council.

Dr. Atkinson is a board member or advisory council member of the Alliance for Public Technology, the Information Policy Institute, the Internet Education Foundation, the NanoBusiness Alliance, NetChoice Coalition, the Pacific Institute for Workforce Innovation, and the University of Oregon Institute for Policy Research and Innovation. He has testified before a number of committees in Congress and has appeared in various media outlets including CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, NPR, and NBC Nightly News.

The October Caucus will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the National Press Club (529 14th Street, NW, 13th Floor, Zenger Room). RSVPs are requested by Wednesday, October 1.
