LOUDON, N.H., Sept. 13 -- OSRAM SYLVANIA, title sponsor of the SYLVANIA 300, added two "track lighting" features at the New Hampshire Motor Speedway in Loudon, N.H. First, SYLVANIA set up a demonstration to educate fans about safe driving and the importance of visibility on the road. Two NASCAR pace cars were outfitted with new headlights on the track. The one on the right is outfitted with SYLVANIA SilverStar ULTRA headlights and the other with standard headlights. The side-by-side comparison shows the increased visibility of SYLVANIA SilverStar ULTRA headlights, which are up to 50 percent brighter and increase down road visibility by up to 40 percent when compared to worn standard bulbs.
Poor visibility, especially at night, is a serious driving hazard. According to the Motor Vehicle Lighting Council, poor visibility is cited as a factor in an estimated 2.8 million accidents, 23,000 fatal crashes and 2,300 pedestrian deaths every year in the United States. SYLVANIA SilverStar ULTRA headlights produce a whiter, brighter light that can help improve driving safety.
Also, OSRAM SYLVANIA installed thirty-five 300-watt quartz halogen floodlights to improve the efficiency and functionality of the lighting on the New Hampshire Motor Speedway's helicopter pad. The improved lighting offers brighter, whiter light to maximize safety and visibility, as well as longer bulb life and better energy efficiency than standard incandescent bulbs.
