ODVA Chooses Organization Leadership for 2009-2010 Term

Organization also changes its legal company name, reflecting ODVA's evolution as a world class standards development organization

Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA - March 17, 2009 - ODVA has chosen its leadership for the upcoming term, including its Board of Directors, officers and representatives to its Technical Review Board. Collectively, ODVA's leadership will head up a global organization, comprised of the world's leading automation vendors, which develops, manages and promotes industry standards for open computer networks. ODVA supports network technologies based on the Common Industrial Protocol (CIP(TM)), including DeviceNet(TM), EtherNet/IP(TM), CompoNet(TM) and ControlNet(TM), along with the major extensions to CIP - CIP Safety(TM), CIP Sync(TM) and CIP Motion(TM). ODVA, which is a non-stock corporation incorporated in the state of Wisconsin, USA, has also changed the legal name of the company from "Open DeviceNet Vendor Association, Inc." to "ODVA, Inc.," the acronym under which the organization has long been operating. This legal change in the name for the company reflects ODVA's evolution from an organization founded in 1995 to develop and promote the DeviceNet standard into a world-class standards development organization encompassing industrial networking technologies for automation applications from the plant floor to the enterprise.

ODVA's Board of Directors is responsible for overall governance and strategic direction of the organization. The composition of ODVA's Board in the upcoming term is global and consists of directors based in the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe. ODVA's directors for the next term include Dave Dodds, who is vice-president of sales and marketing for Numatics; Michael H¶ing, who is vice-president of the electronics business unit at Weidmuller Interface; Frank Kulaszewicz, who is vice-president and general manager of the Logix-Netlinx business at Rockwell Automation; Chet Namboodri, who is global director of manufacturing and energy industry solutions at Cisco Systems; Cyril Perducat, who is senior vice-president of system consistency and innovation at Schneider Electric; and Yukio Tanaka, who serves as senior manager of business partnering and alliances at Omron.

Cyril Perducat, of ODVA member Schneider Electric, succeeds Douglas McEldowney, of ODVA member Rockwell Automation, as president of ODVA. Frank Kulaszewicz, of ODVA member Rockwell Automation, will serve as treasurer and Rich Harwell, of ODVA member Eaton Electrical, will serve as chief technology officer (CTO). Katherine Voss will continue to serve as executive director and secretary of ODVA and is responsible for general management of the organization, which has headquarters in Ann Arbor, Michigan, USA, and operates in the Americas, Asia-Pacific and Europe.

ODVA's Technical Review Board is responsible for oversight of ODVA's technical standards, including, among other responsibilities, approval of enhancements to ODVA's specifications for CIP Networks. Representatives on ODVA's Technical Review Board for the upcoming term include Rudy Belliardi of Schneider Electric; Paul Didier of Cisco Systems; Jeff Jurs of Omron; Damien Leterrier of Molex; Jurgen Palmhager of HMS Industrial Networks; and Dave VanGompel of Rockwell Automation. Rich Harwell, CTO, will chair the TRB.

"ODVA is a dynamic organization that, in a unique spirit of cooperation, brings together competitors who share a common interest in developing and promoting best-in-class, open network standards," stated Cyril Perducat, who became president of ODVA on February 26, 2009, at the conclusion of ODVA's annual meeting of members. "As a principal member of ODVA, Schneider Electric has pledged its strong support for the success of the organization, and I am honored to be chosen to serve on ODVA's Board and as its president. As president, I look forward to building on the success of the integration of Modbus TCP devices into EtherNet/IP by continuing to work with the leadership and members of ODVA to drive the continued evolution of ODVA as a world leader in industrial Ethernet."

"ODVA achieved significant milestones in the last term for its long-term sustainability and growth, making the membership's decision to change the name a logical next step," stated Katherine Voss, executive director of ODVA. "On behalf of ODVA and its members, I also wish to recognize the contribution of outgoing president and director Doug McEldowney, who has shown exemplary commitment to ODVA and has been very involved in helping the organization achieve these significant milestones."

These actions were taken in conjunction with ODVA's 2009 CIP Networks Conference and Annual Meeting of Members, held near Orlando, Florida, USA in February.
