Press release date: June 18, 2012

Montreal, Canada- NuWaves Engineering of Middletown, Ohio, an international Radio Frequency (RF) solutions company, will be unveiling three miniature, high-performance RF products at IEEE's 2012 International Microwave Symposium (IMS) including the company's first broadband low noise amplifier covering C band to X band, and two different sub-2 cubic inch solid state power amplifiers covering VHF through S band.

The HILNA(TM) CX is the newest addition to NuWaves' family of high intercept low noise amplifiers (HILNA) that provide low-noise, high-gain, high-intercept, and wideband operation. HILNA CX features ultra-broadband frequency coverage from 3 GHz to 12 GHz, with over 35 dB of gain. In addition, its new ruggedized chassis and miniature 1.2 in.3 form factor eases integration in size-constrained receiver systems. Additionally, HILNA CX's robust power supply operates over a very broad voltage range for added integration flexibility.

The second major announcement is the expansion of the NuPower(TM) line of solid state power amplifiers. The first of two new products, the NuPower Mini Multi-Octave solid state power amplifier (PA) boasts a 1.9 in.3, ruggedized chassis designed for air- and ground-based applications requiring low size, weight, and power (SWaP). This high-performance PA module supplies 10 watts of RF power across multiple octaves from the high VHF to S band (225 MHz to 2.6 GHz), allowing customers to extend the operational communication range of communications and telemetry systems. The NuPower Mini also features three separate modes of operation, High Efficiency, High Linearity, and High Linearity with Power Back-off, supporting a wide variety of constant-envelope and amplitude-modulated waveforms.

Finally, the diminutive NuPower Micro L- & S-band solid state power amplifier is the smallest PA in the NuPower family at 1.3 cubic inches. NuPower Micro offers 5 Watts of RF power from 1.0 GHz to 2.5 GHz, making it ideal for integration with command & control and video data links in the smallest of mobile platforms, including "Group I" Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS).

"These new state-of-the-art products exemplify the commitment NuWaves Engineering has made to delivering the smallest broadband RF module-level products available on the market," said Jeff Wells, President and CEO of NuWaves Engineering.

NuWaves Engineering is a premier supplier of Radio Frequency (RF) and embedded systems products and solutions for DoD, non-DoD government, and industrial customers. An RF engineering powerhouse, NuWaves offers a wide range of engineering design services focused on wireless communications, as well as a complete line of commercially available module-level products, such as wideband RF upconverters and downconverters, high-efficiency miniature solid state power amplifiers, high intercept low noise amplifiers, miniature RF filters, and fiber optic RF distribution modules.
