Award recognizes innovation, engineering excellence and commitment to quality

OSCEOLA, Wis.-Northwire Technical Cable, an innovative solutions provider in the marketing, design and manufacture of technical and retractile cables and cable assemblies, has presented its Ormund A. Kravik Award to 35-year team member and industry veteran expert Harold Gjerning. The award, named for company founder Ormund A. Kravik, recognizes work ethic, commitment to quality, ingenuity, innovation, integrity, meticulousness, engineering acumen, an entrepreneurial spirit and a comprehensive solution-oriented approach to problem solving. Gjerning was nominated by his Northwire peers for the award.

Gjerning, a resident of Wisconsin, began working at Northwire in 1975 as a cable operator. He was later promoted to extruder operator, quality assurance technician and agency compliance engineer, his current title. Harold holds several professional certifications, including his most recent 2010 accomplishment as a Certified Quality Technician from the American Society of Quality. Additionally, the Canadian Standards Association (CSA) recognizes Harold as a Certified Testing Technician. He is responsible for the management of the Supervised Manufacturer Testing Certification at Northwire. These in-house CSA certification capabilities expedite products to market, shorten lead times, reduce certification costs and ensure compliance with agency specifications.

"Harold's vast experience, leadership and CSA in-house certification capabilities are an integral component of Northwire's technical and service excellence," says Katina Kravik, chief executive officer of Northwire. "Thirty-five years ago, Harold Gjerning teamed with my grandfather, Ormund Kravik, who recognized and valued Harold's extraordinary attention to detail and his commitment to quality and engineering excellence. Harold plays an integral role in our industry-leading turnaround time and has served our customers in achieving the vast scope of national and international standards, agency compliance and regulatory and environmental approvals. Harold is highly regarded in the industry and by his Northwire colleagues for his expertise."
