Press release date: August 24, 2010

SAN JOSE, Calif. - RAE Systems Inc. (NYSE AMEX: RAE), a leader in delivering innovative sensor solutions to industrial, energy, environmental, and government safety markets worldwide, announced North Carolina Hazardous Material Regional Response Teams (RRT) have added RAE Systems' AreaRAE wireless toxic-gas- and radiation-detection monitors to their equipment base serving six of its seven regionally placed teams.

The NC RRTs are strategically located across the state in major population areas with accessibility to major transportation corridors. The RRT trucks are customized tractor-trailer trucks with state-of-the-art equipment and supplies, valued at more than $1 million each.

Administered by the NC Department of Crime Control and Public Safety, the RRT program was developed as a resource to protect citizens and responders alike. Each team is comprised of a minimum of 48 emergency-response personnel who have been certified in hazardous materials handling by standards set by the NC Office of State Fire Marshal.

"Once again, RAE Systems AreaRAE detector systems outperformed competing systems in head-to-head evaluations," said Doug Mayer, RAE Systems sales director for the Eastern U.S. and Canada. "North Carolina's decision in selecting RAE Systems' AreaRAE platform follows our successful deployments with other regional and national teams, including U.S. Army National Guard Civil Support Teams."

"RAE Systems, together with our representatives at Dawson Associates, is proud to be involved in the deployment and training of North Carolina's first-responder community," added RAE Systems' Regional Sales Manager David Saladin.
