POSTVILLE, IA - Norplex-Micarta, the leading manufacturer of high performance thermoset composites, announces the appointment of Jon Thorstenson to the position of Manufacturing Engineer at the company's headquarters in Postville, Iowa. Mr. Thorstenson's responsibilities will include safety review of new equipment, installation and process improvements, and equipment testing and specification. He will also be responsible for product improvement as well as new product development.
In addition to his safety and development duties, Mr. Thorstenson will also oversee the environmental aspects of Norplex-Micarta's manufacturing in order to ensure that the company complies with all air, water, and solid waste regulations. He will also manage customer sample preparation.
Mr. Thorstenson completed his Masters of Science at Iowa State University in December 2007. Prior to his appointment, he also served as a Technical Services Co-op Engineer at Marathon Ashland Petroleum LLC, where he worked to provide customers with process information and develop performance monitors for fluidized catalytic reactors.
