Press release date: October 11, 2007

AMHERST, Ohio, Oct. 11 /-- Dense phase powder transport and application technology, for which Nordson trademarked the acronym HDLV(R) (High-Density powder, Low-Velocity air) with its introduction of the original Prodigy(R) System last year, set a precedent for coating performance and efficiency. This revolutionary method of delivering powder from a storage/conditioning device (conventional fluidized hopper or locally fluidized vibratory box feeder) to a manual or automatic spray gun, uses "High-Density" powder flow and "Low-Velocity" conveyance air.

In a bulk powder transfer application, dense-phase technology dramatically reduces the amount of conveyance air required, eliminating the challenges in dealing with excessive compressed air in a conventional system.

In a gun pump application, conveyance air is also dramatically reduced, producing a very low-velocity, highly dense with powder, spray pattern from the gun, for a multitude of coating performance and operational benefits. Faster application capability, more complete coating coverage, and higher transfer efficiency to name just a few.

Some companies developed just the pumping portion of dense-phase technology, and adapted it to conventional spray guns. However, the Industrial Coatings Systems division of Nordson Corporation (NASDAQ:NDSN) developed completely new and unique HDLV pumping and spray gun technology to attain full benefit potential of dense phase powder coating.

Nordson utilized that technology for its truly unique Color-On-Demand(R) instant color selector, quick-color-change manifold and control system for changing powder colors, automatically, in less than 20 seconds, and with no color contamination.

Now released, second-generation Nordson Prodigy HDLV technology surpasses anything else on the market.

While the original Prodigy HDLV dense-phase technology set the bar higher for coating speed and transfer efficiency, making the painter's job easier, and with more consistent and repeatable results, Prodigy Generation II further increases performance, durability and wear life.

The Prodigy Generation II manual spray gun, now nearly 20 percent lighter, is easier to use, and takes consistent, repeatable performance to an even higher level. The Prodigy HDLV automatic gun brings all the benefits of the manual version, for even more consistent and repeatable performance in applications more-well-suited to automatic powder coating operation.

Nordson Corporation is one of the world's leading producers of precision dispensing equipment that applies adhesives, sealants and coatings to a broad range of consumer and industrial products during manufacturing operations. The company also manufactures equipment used in the testing and inspection of electronic components as well as technology-based systems used for curing and surface treatment processes. Headquartered in Westlake, Ohio, Nordson has nearly 3,900 employees worldwide, and direct operations and sales support offices in 30 countries.
