EM Asia and SMT China magazines conferred the awards at NEPCON China 2012
Carlsbad, CA, USA - Nordson ASYMTEK, a leader in dispensing, coating, and jetting technologies, earned two prestigious awards for innovative technology during NEPCON China 2012. The Innovation Award from Electronics Manufacturing (EM) Asia and the VISION Award from SMT China magazines were presented to Nordson ASYMTEK for product excellence in the dispensing category for its Select Coat® SC-280 Film Coater conformal coating applicator. Nordson ASYMTEK has received these awards each of the six years the awards have been in existence.
Nordson ASYMTEK's Select Coat® SC-280 precision film coater uses patented dispensing technology to selectively apply conformal coating material in a controlled, uniform film rather than an atomized spray, coating complex circuit boards in seconds. Because the material is not atomized and is precisely applied to selected areas, the overspray, masking, and rework associated with conventional coating processes are minimized or eliminated, saving material,time, and costs.
Coating speeds of 500mm/s and a clean edge pass of ±0.75mm, that are achieved with the SC- 280 film coater, are unsurpassed. Better coating pass starts and ends, more uniform widths at start-up, and faster trigger release to reduce material trail at stops, are achieved. The SC-280 film coater provides greater than 99% fluid transfer efficiency, improving material utilization by 30 to 50%. Customers report first pass-through improvement ranging from 2 to 6 percentage points (97%-99% and 91%-96%), depending on the coating operation. The film coater handles viscosities of less than 100 centipoise (cps); coating thicknesses range from 10-200 microns for solvent-based materials.

The EM Asia Innovation Award recognizes top performing companies in the Asian electronics industry for achieving the highest standards for products, materials, and equipment introduced and offered for sale in Asia. Entries were judged on innovation and achievement and for setting challenging objectives.
The SMT China VISION Award honors achievements in China's electronics manufacturing industry. Awards are based on the creativeness and innovativeness of the product and its contribution in helping the downstream industries to reduce cost, improve quality, increase efficiency, enhance reliability, improve safety, and environmental friendliness.
Both awards were presented at ceremonies held during NEPCON China, Shanghai, China, April, 2012.
