Chandler, Arizona - The Manufacturing Enterprise Solutions Association (MESA) announced the winners of its first-ever Metrics Makeover Contest today: Norbitech of Norway and Cormetech of the USA. To enter the contest each company provided information on their toughest problem in a particular facility. The winners will receive consulting from MESA Solution Provider members to solve their problem. The announcement was made during the MESA European Conference in Düsseldorf, Germany, which has been a great success.

The winners will be reporting on what they learn and the benefits they receive from the consulting project over the course of the next year through the MESA website www.mesa.org and the MESA blog, mesap2e.blogspot.com. The winners will also be asked to report on progress at the 2011 European and North American MESA Conferences.

"This contest is intended to demonstrate the performance gains available to MESA members by leveraging best practices as developed and shared in the MESA International community about metrics and manufacturing information systems." said John Southcott, MESA International Board Chair. MESA has been conducting research on performance metrics for manufacturing companies for the past 5 years, and these two companies exemplify our members' quest for operations excellence.

Norbitech AS, the European winner, is an electronics manufacturing services (EMS) provider in Røros Norway. Norbitech provides a complete range of electronic manufacturing services including design, industrialization, supply chain management, manufacturing and after sales support. • A better framework for bridging the gap between executive and operational decision making.
  • An improved business model that links financial and operational metrics.
  • Recognition by MESA as a business and thought leader to the MESA community.

By improving the performance of Norbitech and Cormetech, MESA aims to have at least two members that are more satisfied and have good successes to report in future conferences and published best practice materials. We also expect that the customers of Norbitech and Cormetech in industries as diverse as automotive, computing, defense, environmental, industrial, medical, power generation, and telecommunication will also see benefits from these two companies' performance improvements. MESA's goal is to improve operations management for these two companies and, by sharing the best practices they learn, to foster greater improvement across the entire MESA and production community worldwide.
