NEWBURYPORT, Mass. (Dec. 2, 2009) - Ferraz Shawmut, a global leader in the field of circuit protection, is pleased to announce the third quarter winners of its educational Protection Intelligence Quotient (PIQ) program. The following nine winners received a $100 gas card from the P.IQ program drawing: H. Scoggin, Enola, Pa.; J. Taylor, Henderson, N.C.; A. Sappe, Mechanicsburg, Pa.; M. Kirkbride, Mansfield, Ohio; J. The third quarter PIQ Quiz was on Arc Flash Hazard Protection.
"I didn't realize that over 2,000 people were hospitalized due to arc flash each year," said Mitchell Kirkbride, manager of an independent residential and commercial products distributor in Mansfield, Ohio.
Other third quarter quiz takers said the quiz "helps sharpen my training skills," "was a good review of the topic," and "has prompted me to seek additional training in circuit protection."
PIQ is an educational online program that quizzes design engineers, specifiers, electrical professionals, and equipment manufacturers on how much they know about the hazards that can harm people, equipment and investments.
So far this year, Ferraz Shawmut's PIQ program has offered a quiz on solar power circuit protection, overvoltage protection, and arc flash hazard protection.
