Next ANSI Chemical Network Teleconference Scheduled for January 17



The American National Standards Institute (ANSI) Chemical Network Teleconference, an informal, hour-long information exchange involving more than 350 representatives of industry, academia, government agencies, and other stakeholders, has announced that it will hold its monthly teleconference beginning at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, January 17, 2013.



The teleconference will be co-moderated by Dr. Richard J. Forselius of United Technology Company’s Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation and Michael Kirschner of ENVIRON International Corporation. Lisa Goldberg, director of environment, health, and safety for the Aeorspace Industries Association (AIA), will take part in the teleconference as a guest speaker on the topic of the AIA’s REACH Working Group, which oversees work related to the European Union’s Regulatory Framework for the Management of Chemicals (REACH) by AIA members and partners.



During the teleconference, discussions will focus on chemical regulations, but will also extend to topics that are relevant to chemicals and general supply chain issues. Expected topics areas for discussion include:



Current chemicals standards and ongoing standardization gaps

The REACH authorization process and related challenges

Supply chain communication issues

Conflict minerals and the supply chain

Rare earth metals and related source-of-supply issues

California’s 2010 Transparency in Supply Chains Act
