Newark Releases New Electronics Catalog for 2008 in Print and Interactive Formats

CHICAGO-SEPTEMBER 13, 2007 - Newark, part of the global Premier Farnell Group, and a leading multi-channel, high-service electronics distributor supporting millions of engineers and purchasing professionals across the Americas, is pleased to announce that its newest catalog, offering the broadest selection from 440+ top manufacturers, is available in an interactive online format as well as print edition.

We are known for giving customers a choice in how they do business with us, so offering an online version of our catalog was a natural evolution, comments DeWight Wallace, President, Newark. Our interactive catalog offers engineers and electronics buyers an easy way to browse and buy, while the print catalog is a classic reference tool.

Catalog 125 can be accessed online at www.newark.com/ecats and ordered at no charge at www.newark.com/catalog. The catalog is a subset of the 2.6 million products that are available at www.newark.com.

128,000 products are showcased in Catalog 125, including more than 24,000 new products, primarily in the categories of semiconductors, optoelectronics, passives, electromechanical, industrial control, connectors, tools and test equipment. Half of these new products are new-to-market items, and half are RoHS compliant replacements.
Based on feedback from its customers, Newark implemented a number of improvements to enable faster product comparison and selection. These include: an expanded table of contents, a new section on machine and personal safety and identifying RoHS compliant products at the SKU level with a green dot.

Among the 15 new manufacturers/brands added are Cypress Semiconductor (wired/wireless USB devices), Johnson Electric (linear/rotary solenoids), Rubycon (low ESR, low impedance capacitor technology), Ferrishield (EMI-RFI shielding materials), Turck (proximity sensors), BI Technologies (resistors), OKI (reed switches) and Honeywell-Sensotec (precision pressure transducers).
