DULUTH, Georgia - August 16, 2007 - Nordson (Nasdaq - NDSN) announces the availability of a new white paper, "Aftermarket Products Incorporate Poke Yoke Design, Helping Manufacturers Reduce Maintenance Costs and Enhance Efficiency."

Poke Yoke (pronounced "poh-kah, yoh-kay) translates into English as error proofing or mistake proofing. Embraced by Lean manufacturing, poke yoke results in operations with fewer inadvertent errors as well as less wasted energy, time and resources.

Correctly designed and implemented poke yoke devices are simple and inexpensive; usable by any operator; placed close to where errors can occur; and are part of the process. As they relate to aftermarket parts and components in the packaging industry, poke yoke devices include "one-way fit," the color-coding and ergonomic design.

Gun bodies and modules, nozzles, solenoids, and filters all used in the application of hot melt adhesives in the packaging process can benefit from poke-yoke design. The white paper explains how each of these components provides faster identification, easier installation and reduced maintenance time and costs.

"Poke yoke is part of Nordson's ongoing commitment to innovation, service and choice," states Kelli Crickey, aftermarket manager for Nordson. "Making our parts and components easier to use brings more efficiency to our customers and reduces their total cost of ownership over the life of their hot melt adhesive system."
