Press release date: May 2, 2007

A new 24-page, 4-color, Roll Marking Methods & Machines Catalog for Roll Marking Systems that features a series of complete roll marking machines specifically designed for product identification is now available from Columbia Marking Tools, Inc. 27430 Luckino, Chesterfield Township, Michigan, 48047. The machines are used for the application of serial numbers, inspection codes, date codes, lot codes, shift codes or hour codes in a wide variety of applications.

The new catalog illustrates Roll Marking concepts and methods, and describes the roll marking sequence in depth. Each machine presented has different application options:

1) The 860/260 Roll Marker marks medium diameter parts around the periphery, along the axis, including tubes, and features adjustable slide stroke and table, dovetail quick-change tooling and palm buttons. 2) The 400 Series Hydraulic marks medium to large diameter parts around the periphery, along the axis, including tubes, and features 1/2 to 18 tons of force, 90 cycles per minute and palm buttons. 3) The Mite-E-Roll is used for production marking of small diameter parts, featuring a cycle time of up to 4,000 parts per hour, gear timed cross slides for accurate mark repeatability and a fiber optic part present cycle switch. 4) The Barstock Marker marks continuous high speed round bars or hex stock. This machine marks at 210 ft per minute and features variable speed, reverse drive and a continuous duty feed system.

Each machine rolls its mark onto the part, making them an economic solution for applications where tonnage requirements make a press too costly. It is also a practical method where fragile parts would be damaged by stamping pressure.

This catalog also discusses the different types of tooling and dies that can be used as well as custom marking applications that can be integrated into our marking machines.

Columbia Marking Tools is a leading designer and manufacturer of metal and plastic marking equipment including stamps, hot stamping, impact marking machines, fully programmable peen/scribe marking and Square-Dot(TM) marking systems, numbering heads and special marking machines.
