High-performance Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway Models Scale to Tens of Millions of Messages per Day; Now Available to Suit Any Enterprise Deployment
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Nov. 27 /- Proofpoint, Inc., the leading provider of unified email security and data loss prevention solutions, today announced the availability of its next-generation email security and data loss prevention appliances, including extremely high-performance models powered by multiple Intel Quad-Core processors. The new Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway(TM) appliances are designed to maximize the performance enhancements delivered by Proofpoint 5, the latest version of Proofpoint's unified email security and data loss prevention solutions.
Proofpoint 5 is the industry's first solution for defending against inbound spam and viruses, preventing leaks of confidential and private data, encrypting sensitive information and analyzing messaging infrastructures -- all on a single appliance. Delivering these capabilities on a single, unified platform enables customers to radically reduce costs and complexity while improving the overall effectiveness of their messaging security infrastructures.

Proofpoint appliances and software scale efficiently to support tens of millions of messages per day. They can easily be deployed in multiple-appliance, master/agent configurations to support complex or geographically distributed data centers-offering the security of 100% redundancy combined with the convenience of a single administrative interface. Proofpoint even supports hybrid deployments with both hardware and virtual appliances working together.
New Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway models currently include: -- P840: Quad-Core Intel Xeon processor-based appliance for large enterprises. Supports message throughput of 150,000 messages per hour with full lexical analysis on all inbound and outbound filtering features enabled, or more than 300,000 messages per hour and 10,000 concurrent connections when leveraging netMLX connection management features. -- P845: Eight core power for the most demanding enterprise or carrier environments. Proofpoint's highest capacity agent is powered by two Quad-Core Intel Xeon processors, delivering message throughput of 200,000 messages per hour with all inbound and outbound filtering features enabled. -- P845M: Designed for large enterprise environments with high message volumes and large email quarantine requirements, this dedicated master appliance features more than 900GB of redundant storage to support massive reporting or quarantine applications.
Pricing and Availability The Proofpoint Messaging Security Gateway appliance models P840, P845 and P845M are now shipping. Pricing begins at $15,950, plus annual user license fees. Proofpoint 5 modules for anti-spam, anti-virus, secure messaging, data loss prevention, advanced log analysis and multi-protocol policy enforcement are priced separately.
