New Parker Technologies and Products Protect Environment and Improve Fuel Efficiency for Customers in the Global Marine Market

MIAMI BEACH, Fla., Oct. 10 / / - Parker Hannifin Corporation (NYSE:PH), the global leader in motion and control technologies, today unveiled a variety of products and technologies that protect the environment and improve fuel efficiency for customers in the global marine market. The company is launching the products at the International Boatbuilders' Exhibition and Conference (IBEX) being held in Miami Beach this week.

Going Green

o Reducing Engine Crankcase Emissions - Contaminated crankcase emissions
are a serious problem for diesel engine owners. Environmental concerns
and legislation to control crankcase emissions have increased
significantly. To reduce the total emissions of engines, it is becoming
necessary to close the crankcase breather system, routing these gases
into the air intake system. The Parker Racor Closed Crankcase
Ventilation System offers an effective solution to reduce contaminated
crankcase emissions.

o Preventing Fuel Spillage Into Waterways - Often, during marine
refueling, fuel is spilled overboard out of the vent line. Fuel
spillage is not only expensive and wasteful; it is harmful to fragile
lakes, rivers and waterways. When installed in the fuel tank vent line,
Parker Racor's Lifeguard Fuel/Air Separator efficiently separates air
from fuel forced into the line. Only air is vented, and all fuel is
returned to the tank. Reduced spillage also reduces annual fuel costs
for users.

o Enabling Ethanol Blended Fuels - Use of ethanol, an environmentally-
friendly, alcohol-based fuel produced by fermenting and distilling
starch crops such as corn, barley, and wheat, has increased
dramatically in recent years. One effect of ethanol-blended fuel is
fuel tank and fuel system component "cleansing" resulting in more
contaminates in the fuel stream. Parker Racor filters trap particles in
their Aquabloc II filtering media which also repels the damaging water
into a drainable collection bowl. This enables engines to perform at a
higher level.

Improving Fuel Efficiency

o Combating Bacteria, Fungi and Sludge Formation - Bacteria, fungi and
sludge in fuels can drain system performance. Parker Racor Diesel
Biocide, a multi-functional petroleum additive, can be used to
eliminate and/or prevent the growth of bacteria and fungi. The product
also acts as a corrosion inhibitor. It is approved by the U.S.
Environmental Protection Agency as both a biocide and aftermarket fuel
additive.

o Helping Engines Breathe - Marine engine performance can suffer
dramatically in areas with unclean air. Parker Racor's latest engine
air intake filters, the ECO II Series, feature high soot capacity
marine-grade filter media. The filters perform longer than conventional
heavy-duty, paper-type air cleaners while increasing engine capacity
and lowering pressure differential for improved horsepower and fuel
economy.

o Improving the Refueling Process - Water and particulates in fuels can
sap engine performance and efficiency. Parker Racor FBO high-flow fuel
filtration systems remove these and other contaminants from diesel and
other fuels during the refueling process, a time when fuels can easily
become contaminated. The FBO design offers the added advantage of
allowing filter change-outs without tools. The filters provide users
with clean, dry fuel and have received Underwriters Laboratories (UL)
listing for marine vessel or fuel dispensing applications.

"Protecting the environment and improving fuel efficiency are increasingly important objectives for our customers in the global marine market," said Robin MacDonald, Marine Market Manager. "Parker's ability to develop innovative products and deliver premier customer service is helping them to meet these goals."
