Press release date: March 14, 2011

www.powerplantcatalysts.com provides substantial and helpful technology, product, applications, locations and contact information

Redwitz, Germany, March 14, 2011 - Johnson Matthey's Power Plant Industries (PPI) group has introduced its new website -- www.powerplantcatalysts.com -- which offers users significant and vital technical and sales information about its SCR technology, its catalyst products and applications and conferences and trade shows, as well as the latest news and important contacts.

The PPI website, currently available in English and German, and soon to be available in Chinese, focuses on Johnson Matthey's sale, development, manufacture and servicing of catalysts for the control of NOx emissions from coal-, oil- or gas-fired power plants, as well as waste-to-waste energy plants and other industrial processes, said Dr. Wolfgang Schüttenhelm, Director of PPI Worldwide.

PPI is part of Johnson Matthey's Emission Control Technologies (ECT) business comprising the company's global auto catalyst, heavy-duty diesel and stationary emissions control (SEC) businesses. ECT technologies focus on catalysts and systems controlling NOx, CO, hydrocarbons and soot particulates. Worldwide, Johnson Matthey is the only company with long term experience manufacturing both plate and honeycomb SCR catalysts.

SEC designs and manufactures SCR catalyst and systems used in power plants, power generation engines, gas turbines, industrial manufacturing facilities and marine propulsion engines. Johnson Matthey's SCR catalyst is installed at more than 1,000 customer sites worldwide.

Dr. Schüttenhelm said the website carries details about Johnson Matthey's deNOx catalyst product, SINOx®, and discusses various power plant SCR configurations: high-dust, low-dust and tail-end arrangement. He added that SCR is the best available deNOx control technology for most combustion processes achieving the highest NOx reduction rate while maintaining a very low ammonia slip.

"There is detailed information about our products-plate and honeycomb catalysts, oxi-pellets and new catalysts. Also, users will find extensive information about many traditional and special applications that include gas turbines, stationary gas and diesel engines, and chemical and industrial processes incorporating combustion.

"The website highlights PPI's aftermarket services and product surveillance," he continued, "including regular inspections, sampling and testing in its own laboratories; system-specific catalyst management plans to predict future catalyst needs; optimizing SCR operation and catalyst usage; minimizing operating costs; and improving reliability."

PPI's European manufacturing site is located in Redwitz, Germany, north of Munich. Originally a Siemens production facility, the ceramics division was sold in 2002 and operated as the Argillon Group. Johnson Matthey purchased Argillon in 2008. That November, the site was renamed Johnson Matthey Catalysts (Germany) GmbH.

There are sales and engineering locations at Alpharetta, GA, USA; Sulzbach (Taunus), Germany; and Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, and sales and manufacturing locations at Beijing and Shanghai, China. The Redwitz production facility has been certified to DIN ISO 9001, DIN ISO 14001 and ISO/TS 16949 standards. Johnson Matthey's Shanghai manufacturing facility is expected to receive similar ISO certification shortly.
