Lincoln Electric Co. Inc., The

Cleveland, OH, 44117
USA

Press release date: January 20, 2011

Cleveland - Visitors to the new Lincoln Electric website will discover just how easy it is to find the information they need to make the right decision about their welding and cutting requirements and purchases. The new site features easy, intuitive navigation and increased product detail. Users can even create a personal product wish list - an exceptionally handy new feature.

We set out to develop a far more intuitive, informative and easier to use web site, with the objective of enabling our respective customers and stakeholders the ability to access and leverage our considerable resources and products", says Phillip Wittke, Lincoln Electric's director of marketing.

The most notable change to the site centers on navigation. The site now features clearly marked "categories of interest," ranging from equipment to sports sponsorships, at the top of the homepage. Users simply click on these topics and will see a detailed menu of selection options for each.

"For example, if you're interested in welding equipment, it's easy to find exactly what you're looking for," says Tim Birky, manager of marketing communications. "Just click on equipment from the homepage and select the type of welder, wire feeder or product that interests you."

Once a user does that, he or she is directed to a visually enhanced page that displays the complete Lincoln Electric offering of products in that category. A "Narrow Your Results" filtering menu on the side of the page allows users to narrow the results and view only products that meet certain specifications, such as input power, process capability or maximum output. This feature removes the guesswork from product selection and helps users locate the best solution quickly and easily.

Detailed product pages provide a comprehensive look at product information, ranging from a brief description of each item to more detailed specifications, what's included and optional accessories. It's all delivered in an easy-to-read layout.

Each welding electrode or wire page features increased product detail. Tabs link to such valuable information as mechanical properties, chemical composition, test result data and typical operating procedures.

New to the site is a login function that allows users to register with the site to enjoy a customized user experience, including a personalized product wish list that they can save for future reference. They can print the list to take shopping at their local welding supply store, use the list to compile products for a specific job or simply keep track of the availability of certain products.

To celebrate the new site, Lincoln Electric will reward new registered users with the chance to win prizes. The first 150 registered users to create a login name and password automatically will win a Lincoln t-shirt, and those who create a wish list will have the chance to win something even better in the new "Win Your Wish List" giveaway.

"Users who create a wish list on or before February 21 will be entered into the sweepstakes. Three lucky winners will receive up to $1,500 in products from their wish lists," Birky notes.

The company plans to add additional features to the site over the next few months.
