New Leader Named For National Civil Engineering Society's Foundation



Reston, Va.-The American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) today announced that Christine A. Williams has been selected to serve as the executive vice president of the ASCE Foundation.

Williams most recently spent 14 years with the American Physical Therapy Association in Alexandria, Va., where she ultimately rose to the position of chief operating officer of the association's charitable 501(c)(3) foundation. In that role, Williams was responsible for managing the operations, programs and fundraising for the Foundation for Physical Therapy. During her tenure, Williams also secured the largest gift in the history of the organization-$1 million-and turned the foundation's $300,000 deficit into a $3.5 million portfolio.

From 1988 to 1994, Williams served as director of executive staff for Executive Resource Associates, where she had responsibility for telecommunications, operating budgets, property leases, marketing, special events and international trade show activities. Prior to that, Williams served for six years as a yoeman/flagwriter in the U.S. Navy's Manpower Division in Washington, D.C.

Williams is an active member of the Association Foundation Group (AFG), where she previously served as treasurer, annual conference chair and president, and is now working to move the organization from a steering committee to an elected board with a formal incorporation and governing by-laws. She is also a member of the Association of Fundraising Professionals.

A resident of Alexandria, Va., Williams earned a Bachelor of Science degree from Oregon State University.
