NFPA has made available 2 new ISO standards: ISO 1179-1:2013 and ISO 1179-2:2013. ISO 1179-1:2013 specifies dimensions for ports with ISO 228-1 threads for use with non-adjustable stud ends in ISO 1179-2/-3/-4 and adjustable stud ends in ISO 1179-3. ISO 1179-2:2013 specifies dimensions, performance requirements, and test procedures for heavy-duty (S series) and light-duty (L series) stud ends with ISO 228-1 threads and elastomeric sealing (type E) used with them.

Two New ISO Standards Now Available from NFPA
Milwaukee, WI - Two new ISO standards have recently been published and are now available from the National Fluid Power Association (NFPA).
ISO 1179-1:2013 (supersedes ISO 1179-1:2007) Connections for general use and fluid power – Ports and stud ends with ISO 228-1 threads with elastomeric or metal-to-metal sealing – Part 1: Threaded ports (second edition)
This part of ISO 1179 specifies dimensions for ports with ISO 228-1 threads for use with non-adjustable stud ends described in ISO 1179-2, ISO 1179-3 and ISO 1179-4 and with adjustable stud ends described in ISO 1179-3. The working pressures at which these port and stud end combinations can work vary from 10 MPa (100 bar) up to 63 MPa (630 bar), depending on size, materials, design, working conditions, application, etc.
Benefits: ISO 1179-1 specifies a port with BSP threads and the ability to work with either elastomeric or metal-to-metal sealing, designed to provide users with a leak-free connection when used with the related stud ends at the pressure and temperature levels specified in the standard.

ISO 1179-2:2013 (supersedes ISO 1179-2:2007) Connections for general use and fluid power – Ports and stud ends with ISO 228 1 threads with elastomeric or metal-to-metal sealing – Part 2: Heavy duty (S series) and light duty (L series) stud ends with elastomeric sealing (type E) (second edition)
This part of ISO 1179 specifies dimensions, performance requirements and test procedures for heavy-duty (S series) and light-duty (L series) stud ends with ISO 228-1 threads and the elastomeric sealing (type E) that is used with them.
Heavy-duty (S series) stud ends with type E sealing in accordance with this part of ISO 1179 can be used at working pressures up to 63 MPa (630 bar). Light-duty (L series) stud ends with type E sealing in accordance with this part of ISO 1179 can be used at working pressures up to 25 MPa (250 bar). The permissible working pressure depends on size, materials, design, working conditions, applications, etc.
