New Employees at Laser Design Inc. Signal Continued Growth and Expansion

(MINNEAPOLIS, MN; April 9, 2008) - Laser Design Inc., the leading supplier of 3D laser scanners for over 20 years, welcomed Rick Passek to its Minnesota headquarters staff as Sales Manager. Passek will be responsible for building and managing Laser Design's equipment sales, primarily in the United States. Armando Alonso, Vice President of Laser Design, commented, "We are confident that Rick will be a strong addition to the Laser Design team because of his unique background and strong commitment to customer support."

Passek has more than 25 years of experience with leading CAD/CAM companies such as CAMAX Systems, Zycad, and SDRC (Structural Dynamics Research Corporation). His association with Laser Design Founder and President C. Martin Schuster spans two decades. He worked with Schuster at CAMAX Systems before Schuster founded Laser Design more than twenty years ago. "Personally, I am thrilled to have Rick managing our sales team," said Schuster. "I've known him for years, and when the opportunity arose to bring him on board, we did not hesitate."

Of late, Passek has been a very successful reseller of SolidWorks software. In addition, he is extremely familiar with Laser Design's 3D laser scanning systems and has a great deal of experience selling technical products to customers similar to Laser Design's target market. "We look forward to having Rick ramp up our sales in 2008," added Schuster. "He will add continuity and improve communications between us and our valuable customers."

In related news, Laser Design's Seattle Technical Center has also expanded by hiring a new Software Engineer. He will assist Dr. Jean-Louis Dethier, Corporate Scientist, on all aspects of developing the Surveyor Scan Control software, including motion control, laser probe drivers, and software plug-ins. "Our new software engineer has a passion for programming and I am confident he will make significant contributions to our product in the upcoming year," commented Dethier. "With new programming talent, we expect to be able to release SSC improvements and upgrades to our customers more quickly than ever before."

Laser Design, Inc., has been the leading supplier of ultra-precise, 3D laser scanning systems and services for more than 20 years. Used for capturing the 3D shape of objects with complex geometries and free-form surfaces, Laser Design's Surveyor line of automated and portable scanning systems are ideal for 3D scanning applications involving inspection and reverse engineering of complex shaped plastic and metal parts. The company's patented laser line-probe technology dramatically reduces scanning time by collecting data substantially faster and more accurately than conventional metrology technologies. Laser Design integrates Geomagic software with its laser scanners to provide complete solutions for reverse engineering and inspection applications.

Headquartered in Minneapolis, the company also has Regional Technical Services and Support Centers in Seattle and Detroit, and distributors throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Laser Design also operates GKS Inspection Services (www.GKS.com), an in-house service bureau division offering complete 3D scanning, reverse engineering, and dimensional inspection services to customers worldwide.
