Boston, MA, 02108
USA

Press release date: March 13, 2008

March 13, Boston, MA - Building Lifecycle Management (BLM) is an emerging concept of intense interest to the architecture and commercial real estate fields because it can revolutionize the way buildings are designed, managed, and ultimately disposed of.

Just how revolutionary it can be - from a financial and environmental perspective - will be explained to architects/engineers, and real estate/facilities management professionals at two free seminars that will take place in Washington DC on March 31, and in Chicago on April 2.

Sponsored by ARCHIBUS, Inc., the leading developer worldwide of facilities management software, the ARCHIBUS Building Lifecycle Boot Camp will feature speakers from international architecture firm HOK (formerly Helmuth, Obata + Kassabaum), architecture/engineering Computer Aided Design (CAD) software company Autodesk, ARCHIBUS, and St. Louis-based consulting firm Talisen Technologies.

The March 31 Washington, D.C. session will take place at the American Institute of Architects headquarters, two blocks from the White House.

The April 2 Chicago session will be held at the University Center - Conference Chicago facility in downtown Chicago

o Unraveling Buildings' DNA for Holistic Views, Greater Profitability

Building Lifecycle Management is akin to collecting and interpreting a building's DNA in order to understand and manage it more effectively from virtually every angle.

The concept is based on gathering all the strands of a building's design, engineering, construction, financial, energy usage and facilities data, and consolidating them in a central database for a holistic picture of a building's design and operational history.

Rather than existing as separate, scattered silos of information at the various firms behind a building's creation and management, that central database stays with the building owner/operator. This means that an entire history of a structure is immediately accessible for analysis to support better decision-making in a variety of scenarios.

o State of Missouri Savings Tens of Millions Annually

The State of Missouri, for example, is implementing elements of Building Lifecycle Management and saving taxpayers tens of millions annually in lease, energy and other costs while reducing greenhouse gas emissions by 200 million pounds annually - the equivalent of taking 16,000 cars off the road.

In addition to the State of Missouri, other Building Management Lifecycle case studies, experiences, and technologies will be explained by ARCHIBUS Building Lifecycle Management Boot Camp presenters.

Seating is limited. Interested professionals are advised that reservations will be taken on a first come-first served basis.
