New Brochure Covers Damper-Drive Solutions for Better Boiler Control

Warminster, PA -- Highly illustrated eight-page color brochure from ABB Instrumentation covers damper drive solutions for improved boiler control. According to the brochure, the average power plant has hundreds of actuators controlling airflow and other process variables to maximize the combustion process and minimize emissions. Acuators more than 10 years old could be wasting $100,000's per year.

The brochure notes that ABB has a full-line of actuators and positioners to upgrade or replace damper drives from Bailey (acquired by ABB in 1999) or any other manufacturer. It offers several benefits from upgrading, including improved heat rate as well as reduced emissions, maintenance and operating costs. Included are specifications and torque ratings.

The brochure continues with information on ABB's electromagnetic TZIDC smart digital positioners, which deliver best-in-class positioning accuracy along with reliable operation under harsh process conditions. Additionally, pneumatic positioners are available to satisfy a wide range of applications. They provide fast, sensitive, and accurate positioning of damper drives, and are direct replacements for old Bailey positioners.

Next the brochure goes on to describe Contrac electric rotary actuators, available in a wide range of output torques. ABB Contrac Actuators are the ultimate upgrade to old installations.

Also noted in the brochure are ABB rotary and linear pneumatic actuators. The rotary actuators are direct replacements for the old series of Bailey damper drives. The LP series provide a cost-effective linear actuation solution ideally suited for windbox dampers and louvers.
