New 10-Page Brochure Describes Durable Makrofol® Polycarbonate and Bayfol® Polycarbonate Blend Film Products from Bayer Films Americas


Berlin, CT-September 18, 2006-Bayer Films Americas, a Division of Sheffield Plastics Inc., has released a new 10-page color brochure describing their offering of Makrofol® and Bayfol® polycarbonate film technology. Makrofol and Bayfol provide outstanding stability and durability with lot-to-lot consistency for a wide variety of applications. They are manufactured to the strictest quality standards in ISO-9001: 2000 certified facilities.

The brochure features Makrofol DE and PC made with Bayer MAKROLON® polycarbonate resin that offer high light transmittance, excellent surface uniformity and ease of processing. Bayfol CR polycarbonate/polyester blend provides improved mechanical and chemical resistant properties. Makrofol FR flame retardant film can be easily fabricated and printed. Makrofol LT and BL provide extraordinary light diffusion capability over films that rely on surface texturing for light scattering.

Bayer Films Americas also offers a variety of specialty films for increased weatherability and durability under harsh conditions, including Makrofol EPC (Extended Performance Composite), an enhanced performance composite film that provides excellent first surface chemical and UV resistance, and Bayfol AS-A (black) for antistatic packaging of sensitive electronic components. Other new products are continuously being developed to meet a variety of customer special needs.

The brochure also addresses processing advantages of Bayer's exclusive Film Insert Molding (FIM) technology for 3-D molded part decoration, and a chart that shows the step-by-step process. It also covers key factors to consider when choosing the right material for a specific application along with a helpful Films Selection Guide that details film grade, color, first and second surface texture, available thickness, applications and more.

Makrofol® polycarbonate and Bayfol® polycarbonate blend films are used in a variety of markets including automotive; appliance; cards, (security and smart cards); medical; nameplate and labels; packaging; POP (including signage); telecommunications and other hand-held electronics.
