TSMC Enables NetXen to Deliver the Advanced 10GbE Technology IT Managers Require to Address Evolving Datacenter Demands
SANTA CLARA, Calif. and HSINCHU, Taiwan, Aug. 21 / -- NetXen Inc. and Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company (NYSE:TSM) today announced that NetXen's 10-Gigabit Ethernet (10GbE) Intelligent NIC(TM) chip is now in volume production.
"The enterprise datacenter is on a verge of a major shift to 10GbE," said Govind Kizhepat, NetXen's founder and CEO. "Our relationship with TSMC enables NetXen to answer the growing demand for 10GbE NIC technology in the Agile Datacenter(TM). The NetXen Intelligent NIC products are the industry's first dual-port 10GbE solutions with native PCI Express (PCIe) functionality. The products are software- and firmware-upgradeable, unlike existing hardwired solutions. This enables server systems equipped with Intelligent NIC technology to readily evolve with changing market needs and adapt to different datacenter workloads. The products provide IT managers flexibility and investment protection in an ever-changing technology environment. Top-tier system suppliers, such as HP and IBM, plan to incorporate NetXen's Intelligent NIC technology in products currently under development.
