Navman Launches Online North American NavPix(TM) Community

RALEIGH, N.C., Sept. 5-- Navman, a leading designer and manufacturer of world-class Global Positioning System (GPS), communication and marine products, announced today the official launch of the North American version of its online, global NavPix(TM) community. Accessible at www.navpix.net/, the website is stocked with thousands of professionally photographed images and complemented by a growing library of images from Lonely Planet, the world's leading independent travel media company. Through the website, Navman users can search for images of destinations they would like to visit and download them, free of charge, to their NavPix-capable street navigation devices. Each NavPix image is geo-referenced to its exact latitude and longitude, eliminating the need for knowing and entering addresses, as well as making it possible to store locations that do not have an actual physical address. A dynamic repository of imagery and destination information, the NavPix website is a powerful resource for anyone who travels.

"Navigating with images is as simple as picture, touch and drive," said Stephen Lee, director of product management, Navman USA. "Our ongoing effort to provide geo-referenced images taken by professional photographers across the United States and Canada, as well as our partnership with Lonely Planet, ensures Navman customers an up-to-date NavPix community and an ever-expanding resource for enhancing their personal NavPix image libraries."

The initial release of the North American version of Navman's online, global NavPix community will feature 30 major metropolitan areas and include 25 to 50 destinations for that city. Each NavPix image contains destination information such as location coordinates, an image title, and a brief description of the venue. Accessible destinations include hotels, monuments, restaurants, amusement parks and museums, to name a few.

Continued expansion of the community's content will remain a major focus for Navman. In addition, users with NavPix-compatible devices will not only be able to upload their geo-coded images to share with friends, family and the entire online community, but will also be able to upload photographs of locations taken with a regular camera and subsequently add location information to them using Navman's intuitive online tools.
