Arkeia Network Backup Replaces CA ArcServe and Symantec BackupExec

SAN DIEGO -- Arkeia Software, a leading provider of fast, easy-to-use, and affordable network backup solutions, today announced that the National Research Council Canada Dominion Radio Astrophysical Observatory (NRC-DRAO) has chosen Arkeia Network Backup to protect large volumes of scientific data, as well as operational data. Using Arkeia Network Backup, NRC-DRAO has been able to simplify backup management by consolidating backups using a single solution, increasing backup reliability and staff productivity while reducing system complexity.

Web Interface Simplifies Management

"One key aspect of Arkeia is that it's very simple to manage with an easy-to-use web based interface," explains Peter Cimbaro, Network Administrator at NRC-DRAO. "If we need to install Arkeia on a new machine, it's up and running in minutes. There is no hassle."

"Arkeia's command-line and web interfaces allow remote management, even across WANs," says Fred Renard, Arkeia VP of marketing. "Arkeia customers value our comprehensive support for both physical and virtual environments. Broad platform support reduces costs and improves reliability."

Consolidation Simplifies Backup

Previously, NRC-DRAO employed three backup solutions: Arkeia for Linux machines, CA ArcServe for AIX, and Symantec BackupExec for Windows. To simplify backup management, NRC-DRAO selected Arkeia Network Backup as the single solution for consolidation of NRC-DRAO data protection. Cimbaro describes Arkeia, chosen for its flexibility and ease-of-use, as a "one-stop solution" for all NRC-DRAO's data protection needs.

NRC-DRAO has begun to deploy virtual environments. Arkeia's support for VMware's vSphere makes it easy to maintain a consistent backup process as new, virtual environments are introduced. A single backup solution reduces cost, complexity, and risk. Learn more about Arkeia's support for VMware vSphere (vStorage with changed block tracking), Microsoft Hyper-V, and Citrix XenServer.
