National Manufacturing Institute Partners with University of Phoenix to Offer Scholarships and Higher Education Opportunities to Manufacturing Employees
20 full-tuition scholarships, new manufacturing centered curriculum position manufacturing working learners for education and career advancement
Washington, D.C.-The Manufacturing Institute, in partnership with University of Phoenix - the nation's largest private university - awarded twenty (20) qualified individuals with a full-tuition scholarship for an undergraduate or master's degree at University of Phoenix. Awarded to individuals currently employed by a manufacturer, The Manufacturing Institute Scholarship offered by University of Phoenix allows manufacturing working learners to pursue the education needed to advance their skills in the innovative 21st century manufacturing workplace.

The scholarships are part of an educational alliance between the Institute and University of Phoenix to develop the next generation of highly educated and competitive manufacturing workers. Developed in concert with the Institute, University of Phoenix recently launched its Bachelor of Science in Management with a concentration in Manufacturing, which aligns to the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM)-Endorsed Manufacturing Skills Certification System.
"We know that manufacturing employers are seeking a more educated and skilled workforce and, in turn, employees are increasingly looking for opportunities to further their education," said Dr. Bill Pepicello, president, University of Phoenix. "These scholarships and our educational partnership with The Manufacturing Institute help meet those needs and further University of Phoenix's overall mission of providing a rigorous, relevant and real-world education for today's working learner."
Scholarship recipients come from diverse education and career backgrounds, ranging from transportation and logistics to information technology and welding. Endorsed by the leadership at their companies, the applicants submitted essays articulating how pursuing their degree would directly impact their careers in manufacturing. In addition, employer recommendations demonstrated how the applicants' educational advancement would help the companies improve their business operations.
