Bundle Features Tightly Integrated Software and Hardware to Simplify the Design of Embedded Devices
NEWS RELEASE - Nov. 12, 2007 - National Instruments and QNX Software Systems today announced an OEM evaluation bundle of software and hardware that reduces the barrier to entry for engineers and scientists using graphical system design to create embedded devices that require measurement-quality analog I/O. The new bundle features a low-cost USB data acquisition device from NI, a single-board computer and drivers as well as evaluation versions of the QNX® Momentics® development suite and the NI LabVIEW Microprocessor SDK (Software Development Kit). Using the bundle, engineers and scientists quickly can incorporate the market's leading data acquisition hardware into their embedded designs.
"Almost all embedded systems involve some degree of analog-to-digital conversion, and designs that require more precision can greatly increase the complexity of embedded development," said Linda Campbell, director of strategic alliances at QNX. "The new evaluation bundle from QNX and National Instruments significantly benefits OEMs who are using the QNX Momentics IDE and QNX Neutrino® RTOS to design products that require high-quality analog measurements."
The OEM bundle contains a Power Architecture-based single-board computer with up to 400 MHz of processing power and an NI USB-6009 data acquisition device that provides analog and digital I/O in a low-cost, off-the-shelf unit. The USB-6009 offers eight analog inputs with 14-bit resolution and a 48 kS/s sampling rate and two analog outputs with 12-bit resolution and a 150 S/s sampling rate for acquiring and generating signals reliably. The included NI Measurement Hardware DDK (Driver Development Kit) features development tools and a register-level programming interface for controlling the NI data acquisition hardware.
Because the bundle is shipped with evaluation versions of the QNX Momentics development suite and the LabVIEW Microprocessor SDK, users can develop their applications using either NI LabVIEW graphical code or C/C++ code.
