Seats Still Available for December 2009 NTSB Marine Safety



The National Transportation Safety Board's course, Marine Accident Investigation (MS 101), scheduled for December 7-11, 2009, at the NTSB Training Center in Ashburn, Virginia (near Washington, D.C.), still has openings for interested mid- to senior-level marine industry professionals.

The weeklong course covers the Safety Board's processes and procedures during a major marine accident; reviews human factors, medical factors, and electronic data elements in a marine investigation; offers best practices for comprehensive and thorough interviewing techniques; and shares report preparation guidelines.

The course will be led by senior NTSB investigators who will use examples from recent NTSB investigations to demonstrate particular aspects of the investigative process.

This course was sold out when it was offered for the first time by the Board in January 2009. More than 100 individuals representing U.S. and foreign government agencies, maritime trade associations, and a variety of marine industry sectors attended the course.
